A logo, a Symbol, a Story
The Barilla Grain Pavilion, located at the Barilla campus near Pedrigiano, Italy, draws inspiration from Barilla’s logo, their wholesome products, and key ingredients like wheat, eggs, and water.
The Pavilion’s oval shape echoes the Barilla logo, symbolizing pasta’s core ingredients and fertility. It resembles a grain of wheat, with water featured in a central moat and water feature, referencing the brand’s identity and historical traditions.
Designed as a social space, the Pavilion contrasts with the surrounding architecture, forming an open, dynamic center. Its curved structure leads to a sunken amphitheater, while the roof garden grows ingredients for the Sapori Barilla and shop, offering vegetables and herbs.
The roof provides expansive views and green spaces, serving as a performance area, while the layout fosters social interaction.
Sustainability is central, with the green roof supporting rainwater harvesting. The building’s changing appearance and evolving light and shadow patterns reflect Barilla’s values, creating a harmonious blend of function and design. Surrounding fields, parking, and orchards connect the Pavilion to the office, promoting wellness and engagement.
